When the Microsoft Outlook users start getting alerts telling them that they can’t connect to the Exchange server, productivity abruptly stops, the help desk phones ring incessantly and no one has anything nice to say to the information technology manager or Exchange Administrator. This is a surefire sign that things are out of control. With Exchange Server Standard 2000/2003 you may only have one mailbox store and it's size is limited to 16GB*.
Attachments can be consuming up to 90% of your Exchange Server mailbox space. In addition many of the attachments are duplicated again and again wasting gigabytes of space. You can try to impose quotas, but you are subjected to endless phone calls when user's run out of space.
Now there is a better way. ExchangeCompress allows you to control the space used by attachments and reduce the size of your Exchange mailboxes by up to 80%. For more information go here. * Exchange Server 2003 SP2 and above has increase size limitations |
